The Guiseley Gallop is a popular local 10k trail running race that has been staged by Skyrac Athletic Club in this location every Easter Sunday morning for 29 years. It is licensed by UK Athletics and covered by UKA public liability insurance (copy of certificate supplied separately). We have not had any incidents or problems in recent years. It attracts around 200-300 runners (age 17+) of all abilities, but we could safely accommodate up to 700 runners (which is what the online entry limit is set at). The race is fully marshalled and starts down in Esholt Woods by the railway line, and the course is essentially two laps of the woods, with a short section along the tarmac path next to the old Yorkshire Water sewage treatment beds (we apply separately to Yorkshire Water for permission to use this section). The race finishes up out of the woods where it emerges at the back of Westside Retail park in Guiseley. We have an agreement with the landlords of Westside retail park for runners to use the car park on the morning of the race (because all the shops there are closed on Easter Sunday), which means there is no disruption to local residents. Management of McDonald's at Westside Retail Park are happy for runners to use the toilets there because of the extra business it brings them. We have a team of volunteer marshals on race day spread around the course to guide runners and deal with any injuries or accidents and pick up any litter. We will also have professional medical/first aid support (provided by Event Medical Services Ambulance). As well as the approximately 250 runners we will have around 30 experienced volunteer race officials and marshals to manage the event on the day. Spectator numbers are usually around 50, spread out around the race route and the start/finish area.
